Trish Keenan
1968-09-28 · Birmingham, England, UK
Trish Keenan (28 September 1968 – 14 January 2011) was an English singer, songwriter, musician, and visual artist, best known as the lead vocalist and co-founder of the influential electronic and psychedelic pop group Broadcast. Born in Birmingham, West Midlands, Keenan was celebrated for her haunting, crystalline vocals, surrealist lyricism, and deep commitment to analogue culture, vintage library music, tape manipulation, and avant-garde aesthetics. Alongside partner James Cargill, she formed Broadcast in 1995, crafting a visionary sonic world that bridged 1960s psych-folk, electronic experimentation, and hauntology. In addition to her musical work, Keenan frequently experimented with Super 8 filmmaking, collage, and sound art until her premature death in January 2011 due to complications from pneumonia.
